Motorola G7, G7 Plus G7 Play, and G7 Power Revealed

Earlier today, Motorola announced four new Motorola G phones! The Moto G7 is the main version of the phone, while the Play is a downgraded version of the G7, and the Power is similar to the others but with a 5000 mAh battery! The G7, Plus and Play only have a puny 3000 mAh in comparison.

All of the non-Plus G7 phones will have a Snapdragon 632, which Motorola claims will be 50% faster than the G6 and 110% faster than the G6 Play! The processor is not really as good as Motorola claims though, considering this is the same processor that was on the G6 Plus last year. Compared to last gen’s Snapdragon 427 and 450 for the G6 Play and G6 respectively, the Snapdragon 630 looks like a great improvement! The G7 will have 4GB of RAM, but the Play and Power will only 2GB and 3GB respectively.

The Plus on the other hand, has the Snapdragon 636. This is looking to be a pretty modest improvement. Just like the G7, this’ll have 4GB of RAM.

They all have notches, but they are actually all different to each other! Moto G7 and G7 Plus’s notches are easily the best with their notches looking similar to the OnePlus 6T’s non-intrusive notch. The G7 Play and Power unfortunately have a regular annoying notch. The screen sizes for all of the phones is 6.2″ which means the Plus model isn’t even bigger! The screens will have a 19:9 aspect ratio at which will make them taller than their predecessors.

Just like before, all of the G7 phones will have a microSD card slot with the G7 and G7 Play having a maximum of 128GB while the Power and Plus have a maximum of 512GB, and will probably work with 1TB microSD when they come out! The Plus phone will have NFC support while the others will not. All of the phones, have the headphone jacks which is very nice and will come with 32GB of storage on the Play/Power and 64 on the Plus/Play.

All of the phones, will have fast charging which will be especially nice on the Power where we got days of battery life in an hour or so.

Note that the G7 Plus, just like the G6 Plus will only be available outside of the U.S.

Overall, these phones are a great improvement over their predecessors but I don’t know if they’ll be able to match phones like the Xiaomi Pocophone. I may actually buy one of these though if they’re cheap.
