Dynamax is replacing Z-Moves and Mega Evolutions

Gaming, News, Nintendo Switch, Pokemon, Pokemon 0

Press F to pay respects.

At the Nintendo Treehouse presentation, they announced that Dynamax, the new gimmick in Sword and Shield, will replace what came before it, Z-Moves and Mega Evolutions.

Mega Evolutions have been with us through all of the 3DS games and it’ll be sad to see them go. Mega Evolutions were great, they gave Pokemon a power boost, and helped Pokemon that weren’t great, a huge buff like Kangaskhan.

Z-Moves gave Pokemon a chance to create a nuke move and wreck a Pokemon on the opponent’s team. Alternatively, they could use a status move with interesting special effects.

I can’t say I’m really sad about Z-Moves being gone, but I am salty about Mega Evolutions.

Edit: I’m not sure if this is true as I don’t speak Japanese, but apparently it may’ve been a mistranslation! If it’s true, that’s absolutely amazing!

Stay tuned for more news about Sword and Shield!
